How it Started
We created dbtvault after hearing from data engineers and analysts looking for an easy, low-cost way to get started with Data Vault.
Originally, we developed a Data Vault™ generator tool based on dbt™ for in-house purposes. We quickly realized our tool would be useful to others, and so dbtvault was born and released on an open-source basis.
Since release, we decided to rename the product to Automate Data Vault (AutomateDV) to showcase the purpose of the tool.
AutomateDV is now not only used for prototyping, but also production in small and large enterprises.
Who are we?
AutomateDV is built and maintained by Datavault, a specialist consultancy focused on using the Data Vault method to design and build data platforms.
We are passionate about making data and analytics platforms (Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, Data Marts) simpler and more flexible.
We also provide a range of professional services including data architectures, implementation, coaching and support.

Data Vault is pattern based, and therefore can be readily automated. We created AutomateDV as a low-cost entry-level tool for learning and proof of concepts that is now used in production at enterprise scale.
