NHS Digitrials’ previous manual processes employed for the analysis of vast and intricate datasets to assess the feasibility of clinical trials proved to be both time-consuming and financially burdensome.

The sheer volume and complexity of the data made it a daunting task to manually extract meaningful insights within a reasonable timeframe. To enable progress in medical research and ensure timely, informed decision-making, NHS Digitrials urgently required a sophisticated yet cost-effective solution that could streamline their data analysis processes while upholding the highest standards of data security and privacy.

NHS Digitrials’ came across a solution that could solve their data problems – the Data Vault methodology.

Data Vault enabled the creation of a robust and secure environment for managing NHS Digitrials’ diverse datasets. By leveraging dbt and AutomateDV on Databricks, NHS Digitrials were able to transform the raw data into meaningful insights.

They utilised 146 meticulously crafted models split across various stages. These models included 86 for raw staging, 35 for raw vault, 14 for business vault, and 11 for the information mart.
